Tuesday -- I Love Native Rhododendrons.

Today was the first day I had a whole morning to get things done in a long time. So I started too many things, and certainly didn't quite finish them all. Although I did get the laundry in from the line, and it had survived the night without a major rainwater rinse, which is probably a good thing.

Should have mowed the rest of the grass, but it was so muggy I couldn't bear to start, so I'll have to let it grow until the rain is done. At least Saturday I cut the long stuff way down in the back field; it's my public front that's long and untidy.

Did rescue the forlorn and dried-up neglected spider plant that has been languishing in the downstairs bathroom window since forever. I planted it in the front window boxes outdoors. I'm hoping the new location will give it a new lease on life -- somehow I remember to carry buckets of water to the window boxes even when I totally forget the poor thirsty plant 2 feet away from the bathroom faucet.

Also must mention my lovely rhododendron blooming in back, across the driveway. I rescued it one summer when I worked for George the Landscape Guy -- it got taken out of somebody's front garden, replaced and discarded, (and adopted by me), and I'm sure it's a native that was originally snatched from some mountainside in the wilds of central Pennsylvania, because now is when the natives bloom. (Garden Center rhododendrons bloom much earlier in the Spring.) Pink buds; the flowers are blushy white, with the most wonderful green spots ever.

And this year it has more blooms that it ever has before. I totally love it. Green spotted flowers are just wonderful, and that's all there is to it.
